Providing The Tools For Change

Ocean Leaders are provided with academic and personal support services that help to ensure their progress towards post-secondary education and a career in science and conservation fields. Because students of color from low-socioeconomic status communities in particular, face significant barriers to access college and science-based careers, we have designed and tested strategies to address each barrier. Upon intake, every student is assigned to a case manager and their grades, test scores, participation in internships, and all other relevant information are tracked using a customized database. The following support services are provided to each student:

• Crisis prevention and response
